Dr. Wilks is a graduate of the University of California at San Diego School of Medicine and the Phoenix Integrated Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.  She worked as an Obstetrician-Gynecologist in private practice for nine years, attaining Board Certification from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Advanced Surgical Certification from the American Academy of Gynecologic Laparoscopy.
In 1998, Dr. Wilks completed rigorous training in Medical Acupuncture.  She is a Diplomate (Board Certified) of the American Board of Medical Acupuncture, and a Fellow (the highest level of membership) in the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture.
She believes that Medical Acupuncture is a much-needed adjunct and excellent complement to Western medicine, and especially enjoys the opportunity to consider the whole person when designing treatment.  Toward this end, she became licensed by the
Arizona Board of Homeopathic Medicine in 2005.
Dr. Wilks is a member of the Arizona chapter of the
American Academy of Medical Acupuncture.  She is a fellow of the AAMA, and sits on the Arizona Board of Acupuncture Examiners.  She has worked for 14 years on the planning committee and as medical staff for The American Lung Association's  'Camp Not-A-Wheeze' for children with asthma, and also works with the Guatemala Literacy Project. She is a board member of the Peoria North Rotary Club, and RYLA, a leadership camp for kids.
Dr Wilks lives in Peoria, Arizona with her husband and dogs.
